Andreas Schmidt a.k.a. Ace Da Brain is probably one of the most talented composers/producers of our age. His inimitable style and his use of sublime melancholic breaks and delicate ambience is second to none. He is the founder of AceAge-Music, its labels (AceAge-Records & Venom-Recordings), its publishing organisation (AceAge-Musikverlag) and is the music producer/composer of numerous projects, acts and DJ’s. BIOGRAPHY
Andreas Schmidt was born in 1976 in a town next to Frankfurt am Main, Germany. He went to school in his hometown but then moved on to international schools in Bangkok, Thailand for 4 years and New Delhi, India for 2 years. After the A-Levels graduation (Abitur) he did his statutory military service. Thereafter he studied Chemistry at university in Germany.
In 1998 he met Marcus. They shared an interest in electronic music and with Ace’s composing and producing abilities and Marcus’ Dj-ing skills they cooperated under the pseudonyms “Marc & Ace” and “Marc la Cruz & Ace da Brain”.
From that time on, Ace started many projects and produced a wide range of tracks with Marcus as DJ at his side. Projects like “Airfire”, “Traveller” or “Sonic Inc.” were born and were very well received by many Dj’s and fans all around the world. Especially the Sonic Inc. Project was very successful and stood several weeks in the Top of the official charts in Belgium, the Netherlands and the UK with video clips in VIVA and MTV.
Early in 2003 the business partnership with Marc ended and as did the partnership with George Acosta. A number of composed tracks were released until that day. To mention a few: “Emotions”, “The Reaper”, “Oval Sun” or “Taking over Space” …
Beginning 2003 Ace launched “Venom-Recordings” and “AceAge-Records”. In addition he founded his own publishing company “AceAge-Musikverlag”.
With more than 150 official releases, Ace influenced the Techno and Trance Sound remarkably. Projects like “Ace’s Delight”, “Pervading Call” and “BACED!” were placed numerous times within the Top 10 of the World Trance Charts making him one of the best and most valuable trance producers of that time.
Under AceAge-Records his first album Ace’s Delight – “Sublime” was produced. The album was especially popular in Japan and the USA.
Even though you might only know him from the trance and techno scene, he is also active in other genres of music like writing dance chart projects for CAPTAIN JACK & Roberto Blanco, Franca Morgano from MAGIC AFFAIR or soundtracks for movies for the film industry.
In the second half of 2006, Ace teamed up with DJ Talla 2XLC. Tracks like “No Signs 2006”, “Shine”, “No Inbetween” or “I Know” were produced with huge success. Later in 2010 Talla 2XLC was awarded with the badge of honour by the city of Frankfurt for his musical achievements.
In 2012 Ace started to add various EDM styles to his production skills and began to produce newcomer DJ’s in this field. One of the most famous by now is probably Chris Stritzel alias “LE SHUUK”. Among several well-known singles and remixes in 2014 and 2015, who were played by the likes of David Guetta, Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike, or the remix for Noize Generation who participated in the Grand Prix D’Eurovision for Germany, they produced the anthems of the Big City Beats World Club Dome, which is one of the biggest festivals across Europe, for 4 consecutive years in a row, as well as for its sub-branch WCD Korea in 2017.
2018 Ace teamed up with newcomer DJ KASPAR. He expanded his field of production to Future Bass and Peak Time Techno and especially Techno was very successful. So they were directly signed to Krafttek (one of the best Techno labels of the world that time) for their debut single.
Not much later Kaspar and Ace were crowned top trending Techno artist of the year 2020 by Beatport and got their first No. 1 hit single “Injection” right in the beginning of 2021. Since then they hold their ground among the top 40 best selling Techno Artists of the world.
